Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 Patriot class No 45517 is seen at the head of a diverted Trent Valley up express train as it passes through the station

Ex-LMS 5XP 4-6-0 Patriot class No 45517 is seen at the head of a diverted Trent Valley up express train as it passes through the station. Whilst the station had only been constructed 14 years previous it was still lit by oil lighting in contrast to the electric lighting of the Standard Motor Company. The waiting rooms on both platforms were 'bus' type shelters and consisted of 9" brick walls with a concrete roof. 19th July 1953. Number 45517 was nominally a LNWR Claughton class rebuild, the conversion occurring at Crewe works in February 1933 and remained in service until June 1962 we it was withdrawn from Bank Hall shed in Liverpool to be scrapped in July 1962 at Crewe works.
