The footbridge which is such a feature of all photographs of the LNWR portion of the station can be seen to be very busy despite the fact that the clock records the time as 2.35pm. The weight of numbers including more passengers climbing the steps on the extreme right of the photo would seem indicate an event of some kind.

A clue might be in the headwear of male passengers, "boaters", indicating a possible sporting event. In addition, there few ladies and children in view. Perhaps the rhetorical question about the number of gentlemen's toilets reflecting the high number of male passengers posed in image "lnwrbns_str422" is answered!
