Birmingham New Street - Pre-grouping Locomotives: lnwrbns_pg471

One of the 'Yankee' 2-6-0 Moguls, No 2233, on an empty stock movement between platforms 5 & 6. These unusual locomotives were the result of an order by the MR at the turn of the century to solve a crisis of a lack of motive power.

The MR bought 30 of the moguls from Baldwin and 10 from Schenectady Locomotive Works. The last one, 2233, was withdrawn in 1915. For some reason they were not deemed a sucess and had a very short life. C1910
