LNWR 4-6-0 Prince of Wales class No 95 'Gallipoli' is seen blowing off steam whilst standing at the East end of Platform 1 on an express service

LNWR 4-6-0 Prince of Wales class No 95 'Gallipoli' is seen blowing off steam whilst standing at the East end of Platform 1 on an express service. Pat Whitehouse surmises in his book Pre-Grouping in the West Midlands that despite the locomotive standing at Platform 1, normally associated with up traffic to London, the train was going North via the old Grand Junction route via Aston and Bescot. Built at Crewe works in March 1916 No 95 was renumbered by the LMS as No 5661 in June 1926 and placed on the duplicate list list as No 25661 in April 1934 and remained in service until it was withdrawn on 9th February 1936.
