Ex-LNWR 2-4-2T No 6620, carrying shed plate 3E, is wearing the rare red livery of the LMS as it arrives on Walsall to New street via Aston service.

Very few ex-LNWR locomotives wore the LMS livery in the early days post grouping. Crewe always seeming to find a reason not to and those that were painted LMS crimson were primarily express locomotives. C1926
