LMS Route: Rugby to Leamington Spa (Avenue)
Birdingbury Station: lnwrbird1333a
This close up of image 'lnwrbird1333' shows the original
1851 station building. The booking office was located in the single storey
structure and had been equipped with a cantilevered bow window. This might have
been to facilitate the staff to look out for traffic on the line as they were
responsible for operating the running signals when the signal box was closed on
days when the goods yard was not being used.
The four levered stage on the up platform can be seen under
the window on the right. A second lever frame was located opposite on the down
platform with the rodding running via a protected culvert across the tracks. In
addition to the standard porters trolley a large wheeled version can be seen
next to the station masters house.
