Ex-LNWR 4-6-0 Prince of Wales class No 25685 'Persia' on
shed. Number 25685 was built at Crewe in April 1916 and initially carried the
LNWR running number 2276 until February 1928 when it was allocated the LMS
running number 5685. As with others of this class it was added to the reserve
list by the simple process of adding 20000 to its number, necessary to make way
for the Jubilee class. Number 25685 only had a few months left in service after
this photograph was taken being withdrawn in August 1936 and scrapped at Crewe
shortly afterwards. 4th April 1936
