LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington

Ex-LMS 4-6-0 No 45531 'Sir Frederick Harrison' on an up express. In all probability the photograph was taken on a Sunday and due to engineering works the train has been diverted via Leamington to Rugby. If originating at Birmingham, without need to call at Coventry, it would have used the Berkswell to Kenilworth cut off. This diversionary route was used extensively in the 1960s during the rebuilding of Coventry and the electrification of the West Coast main line. 1948
