LMS Route: Nuneaton to Leamington
Old Milverton Lineside Views: lnwr_oldmil1446
This view of the accident was taken from the other side of
the bridge. The bridge actually crossed over a crossroads on the diagonal which
is still the case today making it a very dangerous junction. The tender which
lies at 90° to the locomotive's footplate is more easily seen in this
view.
The remains of the two wagons seen in the lower portion
are, an LNWR loco coal wagon behind the policeman and, lying at a 30° angle
is an LNWR single plank flat wagon. On the latter, and on the left of the
single plank, there is evident a 'white' triangle which was a symbol used by
the LNWR to denote the ownership of its wagons.
