LMS 5XP Patriot class No 5513, one of seven class members not named, is seen picking up water as it works a down express in August 1937. Built at Crewe works in September 1932, No 5513 was in 1943 proposed to carry the name of Sir William Stanier, the then Chief Mechanical Engineer of the LMS seconded to the War Department, but as with the other six unnamed classmates the names were allocated but never carried. Notionally a rebuild of a LNWR 4-6-0 Claughton class locomotive, No 5513 remained in service until September 1962 when she was withdrawn from Edge Hill shed in Liverpool to be scrapped in October 1962 by Crewe works after a period of stored at Preston shed from December 1961.
