Nechells Power Station: nechells167

Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn 0-6-0T and Peckett 0-4-0ST locomotives stand head to head outside the 'new' locomotive shed. This was the second shed on the site, being constructed in the 1950s to replace the original small single road locomotive shed, which had become inadequate. This photograph taken on 21st February 1970 shows in the foreground the canal basin frozen and the wooden cooling towers of Nechells A Power Station behind.
