Keith Turton's History of Warwickshire's Industrial Railways, Sidings and Private Owner Wagons

Birmingham Co-operative Society: misc_kt394

Wagon No 167 purchased from the Lincoln Wagon and Engine Company and lettered as Birmingham Co-operative Society

There was never to be any doubt about who operated this wagon. It shows the new identity and just screams out at you!!. As far as can be ascertained, it is one of eighteen rebuilt wagons purchased from the Lincoln Wagon and Engine Company of Doncaster, at whose premises the photo was taken by the celebrated Doncaster cameraman Luke Bagshaw. The original builder is thought to have been Heenan and Freud, of Worcester. Both wagons were painted black with white letters.
