GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line

Wood End Platform: gwrwe519

Looking south along the full length of the platform which is now devoid of the lampposts seen in the 1917 view

Looking south along the full length of the platform which is now devoid of the lampposts seen in the 1917 view (see image 'gwrwe2845'), this view being dated 22nd April 1958. In this view we can only see two of the three structures on the up platform, the one at the end can be seen in image 'gwrwe1364'. The larger one housing the booking hall and gentlemen's toilets whilst the smaller one was the waiting room. The down platform had just the one structure, used for the waiting room, and was of a similar size to the up platform's waiting room. Because the station was in a cutting the buildings were recessed into the bank to reduce the amount of excavation that would have otherwise been required. The concrete footbridge is extended to the side of the bank to provide access to both platforms from a path running parallel to the line and on to Broad Lane. The footbridge is similar to the second footbridge seen at a Danzey for Tanworth.
