GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Wood End Station: gwrwe519
Looking towards Wood End Tunnel that leads to Stratford Upon
Avon. The up platform buildings on the right consisted of two structures, the
larger one housing the booking hall and gents whilst the smaller one was the
waiting room. The down platform had just the one structure, used for the
waiting room, and was of a similar size to the up platform's waiting room.
Because the station was in a cutting the buildings were
recessed into the bank to reduce the amount of excavation that would have
otherwise been required. Note the concrete footbridge which is extended to the
side of the bank to provide access from the lane to both platforms. The
footbridge is similar to the second footbridge seen at a Danzey for
Tanworth.
