GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Warwick Station: gwrw384a

Another close up of Cape Yard sidings which has several coal staithes in view by the yard advertising hoarding

Close up of image "gwrw384" showing Cape Yard sidings which has several coal staithes in view adjacent to the yard's advertising hoarding. The crane was fixed in position and was used for off-loading palleted items, container vans, timber etc. The 1925 map shows five sidings in use whereas this photograph indicates that a sixth was laid at the very far end and running the other side of the raised platform.

Access from the mainline was via the track on the left of the coal staithes. This track ran from the end of the platform seen in image "gwrw376" and "gwrw400" into the distance. As can be seen in image "gwrw383" goods trains would be brought forward into the station and reversed onto the track from which there appears to be six sidings branching off.
