GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Long Marston Station: gwrlm596
From 30 June 1952 BR named the Wolverhampton to Penzance
express 'The Cornishman'. This train together with others on the Wolverhampton
to West Country route were introduced with the opening by the GWR of its new
main line formed through the construction of the North Warwickshire line and
the upgrading of the Stratford to Honeybourne route. The above photograph shows
an unidentified GWR 4-6-0 Castle class locomotive on the Up 'Cornishman'
passing a train of empty stock standing in the refuge sidings to the south of
the station. C1960
