GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley and Duddeston: gwrhd678
For this view of the northern part of Top shed the
photographer has remained in the same position as image 'gwrhd677' but swung
the camera nearly 90 degrees. The access to the canal basin is located just
under the elevated offices seen in the distance. (A better view of the access
to the canal basin is seen in image 'gwrhd679').
The Top shed is now nearly complete some eighteen months
after work had started which was not too bad considering there was a war going
on. The cartage deck under the canopy was, according to Frank Popplewell, not
normally used for regular traffic but utilised for delayed "A waiting
instructions" consignments and special high value goods such as tobacco. 12th
