E&WJR 2-4-0T No 1 standing at the head of a three coach local passenger train bound for Towcester

E&WJR 2-4-0T No 1 standing at the head of a three coach local passenger train bound for Towcester. Immediately behind the locomotive is a horsebox followed by two six-wheel coaches and what is thought to be a four-wheel brake van. The locomotive appears to be wearing the E&WJR pre-1903 livery of crimson lake with panels lined in black and edged both sides with yellow. The E&WJR's short passenger trains did not require any significant locomotive power and the introduction of 0-6-0 tender locomotives on the line was motivated by the need to handle through goods traffic. Note the absence of the down platform which predates the scene to before the line to Broom was built.
