LMS Route: Stratford Midland Junction - The Shakespeare Route

Ex-LMS 4F 0-6-0 No 44188 approaches the SMJ station via the spur connection from the GWR line installed just five years earlier. On the right is a ground frame locking the road which once led to the shed via the turntable. The ground frame would be locked requiring a token kept at an adjacent signal box to unlock it. The track side number '15' indicates that when entering the road to the turntable a maximum speed of 15 mph was in place.
