Another view of the original East & West Junction Railway signal box after the closure of the passenger station. The door in the brick base of the signal box led to the machine room where the levers and pulleys from above were transformed from a vertical movement to a horizontal action. Then through wires or rods passing under the platform and exiting via the gap in the platform face seen on the right, they would work the signals and points in the area under the signal box's control.
