An advert for Hutchings & Co Ltd which appeared in Spennell's Directory in 1921 listing the services offered. A cartage agent was a contractor who delivered and collected goods on behalf of the railway. This was a cost saving measure in locations where the level of business traffic did not warrant the railway to employ its own person and transport.
