LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton

Ex-LMS 0-6-0 4F No 44270 is adjacent to Water Orton sidings on a Class F express freight service as it approaches the station on 16th August 1954. In this particular instance the train is made up of empty wagons, but a Class F category could cover express freight, livestock, perishable or a ballast train not fitted with continuous brakes. Built by Derby works in November 1926 No 44270 was to remain in service until November 1963 when it was withdrawn from 16A Toton shed.
