Ex-Midland Railway 1P 4-2-2 'Spinner' No 644 pilots ex-MR 2P
4-4-0 No 440 passes through Tamworth station on an up express service on 27th
June 1925. Despite it being two and a half years since the formation of the LMS
and the demise of the Midland Railway as an independent company, the above
scene is purely Midland with the sole exception of the Midland brake van
carrying LMS on its side. The Spinner was built by Derby works in March 1892
and was to last in service less than a year more being withdrawn from service
in April 1926.
