LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham

Salford Priors station: mrsp336a

Close up of image 'mrsp336' showing the booking office and passenger facilities on the left in the single storey section of the station building. The station nameboard is the standard Midland Railway pattern having two faces at an oblique angled so that passengers from either direction can identify the station's name. Just behind the nameboards to the left is the small goods shed with both doors open. In the distance, by the first set of points, can be seen a small hut on the right. This was the location of the ground stage that operated in the absence of a signal box. For safety reasons the ground frame could only be operated with the use of the tablet for this section of line thereby ensuring the points could only be operated with the knowledge of the driver and guard. Beyond this point can just be seen the points that led Bromford and Evershed's engineering works, producers of steam ploughing, dredging and road rolling equipment.
