Portrait of George Price, an engineman based at Saltley until retirement in the mid-1970s. His father had been a Welsh miner who relocated his family to Birmingham in the 1930s. George commenced his railway career at Bourneville shed, later transferring to Saltley (21A) when Bourneville closed. He had a forceful personality and set exacting standards, but was faithful to and supportive of those he respected. He resided at Kings Heath.
