Bob Essery maintains that the presence of the locomotive head and tail lamp on ex-MR 3F 0-6-0 No 43714 suggests that is the Redditch pilot and not the train engine. Beyond the bridge can be seen Redditch goods shed and the yard beyond. Number 43714 was a member of the Midlands 1873 class by Neilson Reid & Co to order 5979 circa 1901 and remained in service until withdrawn from Normanton shed in January 1962 for scrapping by Crewe works in February 1962.
