The view from the site of the 1864 down (Birmingham) platform towards Ashby and Leicester. The nearest double junction to the right is the old Midland Railway passenger line to the South Leicester branch, which crossed the Trent Valley line by a flyover. The next pair of running lines is the Midland Railway freight connection to the LNWR, whilst the joint Midland Railway/LNWR Ashby & Nuneaton line curves to the left, just beyond Abbey Junction Signal cabin.
