Internal view of Lawley Street Goods & Grain Warehouse showing the method of raising and storing of the grain on the top floor of the building on 21st May 1912. The sacks have been stored in discrete sections indicating that they have been sorted either by customer or by the date received to assist in rotation. The grain is being stored on the third floor of the three storey warehouse as indicated by the top lights in the roof. The fixed small crane has a number of sacks suspended and, as porters are bringing sacks to the crane, it is presumed they are being lowered through the floors to waiting road transport for distribution. The shed had as many as 19 cranes capable of handling loads from 15 cwt to 2 tons each. In addition, there were 12 jiggers, 1 hoist, 28 capstans and 8 traversers spread through out the shed.
