Close up of image 'mrkn277' showing the Northfield end of the down platform which has had a timber open framed barrier erected at 90° to the rails and with a row of milk churns in front. The timber frame appears to be free standing meaning that it looks as if it has been permanently fixed to the ground. Both the porter's timber barrow crossing and footbridge would be used so its unlikely that the timber barrier was to stop passengers from accessing this end of the station. A notice board on the timber framing which probably explains its purpose cannot be read.
