General view of Broom Junction station illustrating the use of its platforms for both up and down services. Despite the station being built to island platform configuration with the capability of trains from either direction arriving at either platform, the authorities planned that the up and down platforms would have dedicated platforms. This is illustrated by the fact that each railway sign faces only one direction. In the photograph above the standard MR angled two-board station name board has no lettering on this side because it was to be viewed from the other side for passengers arriving from either Ashchurch or Stratford upon Avon. Similarly the single board station sign at the other end of the platform faces this platform for passengers arriving from Redditch .
