Looking North towards Broom Junction station with Broom West
Signal Box and the SMJ south junction in the foreground. Being built in 1942,
Broom West signal box was built to sustain damage from bomb blast being built
with brick walls and concrete roof. The steps leading up to the cabin are also
built in concrete and are built at 90° to the running line, to facilitate
its use. Adjacent to the signal box is a lamppost, platform and rail painted
white used by the signalman to exchange the single line token. The junction
line to Stratford upon Avon branches off to the right and then runs parallel to
the MR line before curving away to the right behind the trees. The timber
structure on the left is a fogmans hut which was used during poor
visibility.
