An unidentified 'Brush' Type 2 Diesel locomotive approaches Bromford Bridge with a down coal train in 1963. Viewed from the horse dock this photograph shows how the River Tame was realigned when they built the railway in 1842. British Railways required a smaller locomotive and the Type 2 fitted the bill so 283 locomotives were built by Brush Traction from 1957 to 1962. Later classified as Class 30 under TOPS, they were re-engined and categorised as Class 31 diesel locomotives.
