Bournville Shed: mrb671

British Railways 5MT 4-6-0 No. 45297 passes Bournville shed as it heads southwards on the cold morning of Sunday 19th February 1956

British Railways 5MT 4-6-0 No. 45297 passes Bournville shed as it heads southwards on the cold morning of Sunday 19th February 1956. The engine was allocated to the former LMSR Millhouses shed in Sheffield, so the train was probably a Yorkshire to Bristol service. Former LMSR sheds in Sheffield were all concentrated in the Eastern Region two years later. As a consequence British Railways 73xxx 5MTs displaced their black fives. LMSR No.5297 was completed in December 1936 by Armstrong Whitworth of Newcastle. It became British Railways No. 45297 in March 1949. It was withdrawn from Crewe South shed in September 1967 and scrapped in 1968 by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
