Ex-LNWR 4-6-0 19 inch goods No 8786, in store with other engines of the same type, beside the shed on 2nd March 1935. Built at Crewe in 1908 as LNWR No.1654, it was renumbered as LMSR No 8786 in 1928. The LMSR also rebuilt it with the Belpaire firebox seen in the photo above. Despite being in store at Bournville, it remained in service and was further renumbered as LMSR No 28786 in 1943. It was one of the last six of its type in service in January 1944, being finally withdrawn for scrap in May 1946. For another view of these stored engines, taken a fortnight later, see mrb481.
