A fine view of Fowler 2-6-4T No 42338, standing with other engines on one of the shed's sidings in the early 1950s. Still fitted with inside steam pipes, it had been renumbered in January 1949 and repainted with the words 'British Railways' on the tank sides, a short lived style which preceded the more familiar lion & wheel emblems. The engine remained at Bournville until April 1958, when it was reallocated to the London area. It saw service at four other depots before being withdrawn in January 1964.
