Two Fowler 4-4-0s, 4P No 41075 piloting 2P No 40409, double
heading an up stopping train past Bournville signal box on Wednesday 6th May
1953. It was probably a service from Bristol, as the 2P's home shed was there.
The Leicester based pilot may have been hitching a lift to Birmingham, to get
itself nearer to home. Engines of both types were being withdrawn in the
fifties. These two both went in 1957. Main line stopping services themselves
faced the axe when they were labelled uneconomic by Dr Beeching in 1963.
