The platform has the distinctive Midland Railway's two sided 'running in board' better known as the station name board. The lampposts are cast iron with gas lanterns later to be replaced by electrical lampposts, first of a swan neck cast iron construction erected by the LMS and then concrete version erected by British Railways. The locomotive is thought to be a MR 2-4-0 heading a local passenger service consisting of close coupled carriage stock.
