LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Nuneaton

Looking towards Whitacre Junction along the now closed station's down platform on 18th October 1964. All the lampposts have had their lanterns removed together with station furniture and signs. On the right the waiting room appears to have been partially demolished with the centre section removed. The station ceased to handle passenger services on 7th November 1960 but goods traffic was still being catered for up to 4th January 1965. In all probability the continuation of goods services at the station required the authorities to retain some of the facilities within the station building hence its continued survival.
