Close up showing the goods train being hauled by one of Kirtley's 0-6-0 locomotives whilst the signalman looks out of the signal box

Close up of image 'mra131' showing the goods train being hauled by one of Kirtley's 0-6-0 locomotives whilst the signalman looks out of the signal box. The oil lit lamppost located on top of the timber platform is to assist the exchange of the single line baton between the signalman and the locomotive crew. The rodding and wires controlling the signals and points can be seen running along the face of the platform at track level connected to the signal box via the opening beneath the platform. The sets of three planks laid between the two sets of rails and in between the tracks was to protect the signal and point rodding which passed under the tracks to operate sidings on the opposite side to the signal box.
