Close up showing part of the larger structure located on the
up platform and a clear view of the Third Class sign advising where passengers
were to wait. The overhang of the roof on this structure appears to be greater
than that seen on the down platform. It was common throughout all UK railway
stations for a Ladies Only Waiting Room to be provided which also accessed an
internal toilet. On the other hand the Gentlemen's facilities of latrine and WC
were accessed separately directly from the platform. The large ornate weighing
machine would be used by station staff to determine the cost of parcels being
sent by train. The term parcels covered a wide variety of loads and effectively
meant anything that could be put in a guards van as can be seen in this image
at Coventry'lnwrcov599a'.
