Warwick (Milverton) Station: lnwrwar_stn1405

A 1940s view of Warwick Milverton station looking towards Kenilworth and Coventry showing the poor state of repair of the buildings

A 1940s view of Warwick Milverton station looking towards Kenilworth and Coventry showing the poor state of repair of the buildings. On the left adjacent to the Mile Post is the covered entrance to the steps leading down to the booking office and Warwick New Road. This photographically demonstrates that the 1883 station was not built some 200 yards south of the 1844 terminus building but was an extension of the existing structure at platform level with new buildings erected in brick at road level on Warwick New Road. On the right above the white posts at the rear of the platform is a building on the site the original 1844 station which remained in use for departmental use for up to at least 21st November 1890 when it was recorded on the plan seen in Preston Hendry and Powell Hendry's book A History of Illustrated LMS Stations.
