An array of pre-grouping, grouping and British Railways built locomotive power on display in the last years of the shed's working life

An array of pre-grouping, grouping and British Railways built locomotive power on display in the last years of the shed's working life. The locomotives include: ex-LNWR 7F 0-8-0 'G2a' No 49266, BR built, but to an LMS Ivatt design, 2MT 2-6-2T No 41321, ex-LMS 3MT 2-6-2T No 40076 and ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48343. All are seen in steam indicating that the photograph was taken during a Saturday when the locomotives would be returning from their different duties prior to be serviced for Monday morning. Built at Crewe in June 1916 No 49266 was withdrawn from Rugby shed in November 1959 where it stood on the dump line until towed away to Crewe Works to be cut up in May 1960. Ivatt's 2MT design No 41321 was built at Derby Works in February 1952 and had a very short life being withdrawn from Exmouth Junction in July 1965 and scrapped by G Cohen, of Morriston, shortly afterwards. Stanier 3MT 2-6-2T No 40076 was built at Crewe in March 1935 and withdrawn from Bangor shed in October 1961. The Stanier 8F, No 48343, was built at Horwich works in February 1944 and remained in service until February 1967 when it was withdrawn from Stoke-on-Trent shed to be scrapped in May 1967 by J Cashmore, of Great Bridge.
