Tile Hill Station: lnwrth1285
Tile Hill level crossing looking towards Tile Hill Village
from the down side of the gates during 1930s. The small gates behind the
crossing gates on the left allowed passengers to either access the station or
cross the line when the main gates were closed. As the train neared they would
be locked although as soon as the train had passed they would be reopen
especially useful in catching a local passenger train. The crossing gates on
the right look as if they are in the process of being closed. Mike used to
spend his train spotting days at this station during the 1950s and recalls that
the right hand gates always moved before those on the left. Several times the
gates were damaged when the signalman opened them too soon and hit the rear of
the train.
