LMS Route: Rugby to Wolverhampton

Ex-LNWR 2F 0-6-0 'Cauliflower' No 28548 is seen paused between shunting duties in Stechford's exchange sidings in 1947. Built by Crewe works as LNWR No 439 in October 1900, No 28548 was renumbered by the LMS as No 8548 in September 1927 and again in October 1942 when it was placed on the duplicate list by the addition of 20,000 to its then running number. In October 1948 British Railways then renumbered it No 58548 which it carried until December 1955 when it was withdrawn from 12B Penrith shed to be scrapped by Crewe works.
