Looking towards the site of the former station with the remains of the booking office just visible on the left on 1st June 1962. The station's booking office stood proud of Soho Road over bridge, the station forming the central support to the bridge with one track passing either side. The signal on the right controlled access to Soho East Junction and from there to either Winson Green Junction or to Soho Soap Works Junction. In the foreground is a plate layers hut used by the Permanent Way gang to store their tools and spare parts together with being used for messing facilities. On the right behind the line to Soho Pool the twin towers of Handsworth Power Station can be seen. This was accessed by rail from the single line which led to Soho Pool Wharf.
