LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Harborne

View looking towards Icknield Port Road station showing the timber passenger footbridge and elevated walkway. Originally the station was constructed as a single track station but was converted to an island platform in 1901 when Harborne also received its second, but never used, platform. The original platform face was on the left as all of the Harborne Railway Company's stations bar Harborne itself were on the left of train when travelling in the down direction. The rising gradient eased to 1 in 224 through the station which provided a short respite to the continuous 1 in 66 rise either side of the station.
