LMS 4P Compound No 1129 stands on the turntable being turned by both crew members ready for service

LMS 4P Compound No 1129 stands on the turntable being turned by both crew members ready for service on 11th July 1931. Hawkins & Reeves state that initially Rugby was provided with two 40 foot turntables although as seen in image 'lnwrrm1059' this had been replaced during the 1930s modernisation by a single 55 foot turntable. Built at Horwich works to order 1398 in December 1925 No 1129 remained in service until May 1955 when it was withdrawn from Stranraer shed to be scrapped in July 1955 at Kilmarnock works.
