Ex-LNWR 0-8-0 G2A No 9146 is seen running tender first with a train of ballast for engineering work circa 1946. Built in April 1902 as LNWR No 898, a Class B 4-cylinder compound locomotive, it was rebuilt as a 'simple' G Class locomotive in June 1911, renumbered by the LMS as No 9146 in May 1927 following which it was rebuilt as a G1 Class locomotive in March 1932. Following a further rebuild in May 1941 as a G2A, the form seen above, it was renumbered by the British Railways as No 49146 in July 1950 which it retained until February 1958 when it was withdrawn from 87K Paxton Street (Victoria) in Swansea.
