Ex-LMS 4-6-0 Jubilee class No 45580 'Burma' is seen on a down express at Rugby station circa 1954. Built as LMS No 5580 by the North British Locomotive Company in October 1934 to Lot No 118, No 5580 was named 'Burma' in February 1938. Renumbered by British Railways as No 45580 in May 1949, the locomotive was allocated to Kingmoor, Carlisle in September 1950, Blackpool in January 1957, Warrington in June 1963, Newton Heath in September 1964 before it was withdrawn from Newton Heath shed in December 1964 to be scrapped by TW Ward Ltd of Beighton, Sheffield in April 1965.

The locomotive has the train reporting number 'W243' displayed on its smokebox door. All trains running on British Railways were allocated a four character identification code - called a train reporting number or headcode. This practice of displaying the headcode was abandoned on the 1st January 1976. The code was (and still is) used to identify the trains in the working timetable and for train reporting. First position is the train classification. The second position is the destination code. The third and fourth positions give the train / route number.
