An etching of the bridge over the Lutterworth Road at Rugby as seen in Osborne's London & Birmingham Railway Guide

An etching of the bridge over the Lutterworth Road at Rugby as seen in Osborne's London & Birmingham Railway Guide , authors EC and W Osborne circa 1840. The difference between this image and image 'lnwrrm3325' is most likely artistic licence and a year or so difference in the date of the view being drawn. An interesting point to note are the solid timbers sunk vertically in to the ground on both sides of the road. In image 'lnwrrm904' a similar row of timbers can be seen erected at Railway Terrace which led up to the site of the second railway station. Peter Elliott in his book Rugby's Railway Heritage said the fencing in Railway Terrace was erected by the LNWR in 1840, a date compatible with the above.
