Ex-LMS 6P 4-6-0 Rebuilt Patriot Class No 45530 'Sir Frank Ree' is seen heading north on an express service. Built by Crewe works as a parallel boiler Patriot Class locomotive in April 1933, No 45530 was named in March 1937 and later rebuilt in October 1946 with a standard 2A tapered boiler. Very little remained of the original locomotive losing even its Fowler cab which the rebuilt Royal Scots had retained. The locomotive remained in service until December 1965 when as the last remaining member of the class it was withdrawn from 12A Kingmoor shed to be scrapped by the Motherwell Machinery & Scrap Company of Wishaw.

John Kirby would welcome the chance to put names to faces and especially being able to meet up with former mates. Please use our guest book to contact us.
